Marianthi Lainas

Having spent most of my life living a stone’s throw from the coast, my photographic work is informed by the dynamic places at the far edges of the land, cycles of ebb and flow and the transience of the littoral landscape.   When not walking the shores and strand lines close to home, I enjoy travelling and recent work has focussed on visual explorations of remote northern areas, including the Outer Hebrides and Arctic Greenland.

I enjoy experimenting with new techniques and often work without a traditional camera in a more abstract way, my aim always being to simplify the landscape to its essential elements of colour and form.

I exhibit regularly and my work is currently represented by galleries in London, Scotland and the North West of England.
