Karin Sheldon

Techniques from ancient countries have fascinated Karin alongside traditional methods. Using these ways of working have enriched Karin’s imagery. Keum-Bo is from Korea and allows 24ct gold to be heat and pressure fused to sterling silver. Karin uses this to give a painterly quality to the Nature Walk collection. Mokume-Gane is from Japan and is the technique used for folding and fusing metals together to give knife edges and the Samurai sword. Karin uses it by forging the resulting metals to bring the landscape of the Peak District to rings and bracelets. Semi-Precious stones and Precious stones add to the imagery.
