Clare Bates

I have over 28 years’ experience of being a professional photographer specialising in fine art photography for museums, art galleries, private estates and collectors, local authorities and stately homes.

For 24 years of those 28 I was a photographer for National Museums Liverpool (I now work freelance for them) where I had the chance to photograph some truly amazing things.

My other photographic passion is creating landscape photographic images; images that are about trying to capture light, texture, colour, shade and the sensations of the landscapes, seascapes and architecture that surround us.

I work in a very quiet and solitary way, it is just me, a camera (and a dog, more often than not_ but the images I create are the way I try to ‘live out loud’… but quietly.

‘If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you: I am here to live out loud’.
Emile Zola (1840-1902)
